Senior
Director, Device Technology
A Pharmaceutical company located in Connecticut is
seeking a Senior Director, Device Technology for the
following responsibilities:
-Lead the device technology development function/department
to develop drug delivery technology for the company
formulations. This will involve working closely as a
team with the R&D, engineering and quality groups,
and using principles of concurrent engineering to ensure
manufacturability of the design.
-The group responsibilities include develop and advance
technologies associated with the registration and industrialization
of drug delivery devices and packaging. Immediate objectives
of the department will be to development and finalize
the development and industrialization of products including
oversight of mold development, process development and
device assembly development at the contract medical
device manufacturers.
-Develops a passion and working knowledge related to
medical devices that enables effective judgment (design
decisions, interaction with key customers, supervision
of technical design reviews, engagement and "brainstorming"
with multiple constituents including marketing, etc).
A general working knowledge of manufacturing strategy
is required.
-Responsible for communications (as appropriate) to
senior management. Individual must be able to communicate
technical and non-technical information effectively
to all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
-Individual must be a champion for innovation and people
development working to strengthen the overall engineering
team for both managerial and technical tracks. Responsible
for managing multi-site relationships including both
direct and indirect reports (as appropriate).
-Works within functional groups within the organization
(R&D, engineering, quality) to support strategies
aimed at optimizing all phases of the product development
cycle ensuring design quality, compliance to regulatory
/industry standards, and customer satisfaction. Makes
recommendations to streamline and to increase robustness
of the new product development process.
-Ensures adherence to design control guidelines and
regulatory compliance requirements.
-Collaborates closely with Business Development, Marketing,
Manufacturing, and Finance to analyze market needs and
potential business opportunities.
Requirements:
- 15 years product development experience, in the medical
device industry, preferably inhalation products.
- 8 years engineering management experience.
- Demonstrated success in product development and bringing
concepts to market. Consistent, proven
leadership experience.
- M.S. in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
- Possess critical thinking skills with the ability
to make solid decisions in the face of limited information
- Excellent interpersonal skills to allow effective
participation in project teams and the ability to work
collaboratively across a number of disciplines and functional
groups
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Driven and self-motivated
- Detail oriented with the flexibility to evaluate the
need for detail against the overall project needs
