Associate
Director of Bioprocess Development
A pharmaceutical company located in New York is seeking
an Associate Director of Bioprocess Development who
will have the overall responsibility for the department
and its staff of approximately 20-25 scientific and
engineering professionals. Responsibilities include
oversight of technical groups responsible for the development
of biologics manufacturing processes. The Associate
Director, Bioprocess Development will report to the
Director of Biotechnology Development. He or she should
have solid demonstrated leadership qualities and be
results oriented. He or she will be an innovative, visionary
and strategic individual with a drive for continuous
improvement. Additional attributes desired include superior
intelligence, sound judgment, high energy, a strong
work ethic, flexibility, motivational and empowerment
skills and dedication.
Specific responsibilities will include providing tactical
and strategic oversight to the Bioprocess Development
group and leadership in the linkages with Quality Operations,
Bioprocess Engineering, Development Support, and Biotechnology
Operations. The Associate Director will also be responsible
for the recruiting, retention and development of talent
in the Bioprocess Development organization; the development
and alignment of objectives with partner organizations;
and maintaining relationships with internal and external
partners involved in Bioprocess Development projects.
Position Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in biochemical
engineering or a relevant biological science, strong
academic credentials, a solid history of technical accomplishments
with at least 5 years of industrial experience in biotechnology
and successful, demonstrated supervisory experience.
Specific qualifications desired include a demonstrated
knowledge of biologic manufacturing processes and process
science, and demonstrated skills in budget management.

Bioprocess
Engineer
A pharmaceutical company located in New York is seeking
an Engineer who will be engaged in process development
and process improvement activities for the downstream
processing of innovative late stage biological molecules
as a member of the purification group. The successful
candidate will possess extensive skills in chromatography
including ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, affinity
and HPLC, filtration including microfiltration and ultrafiltration
and electrophoresis including SDS PAGE, IEF and western
blots. The successful candidate will also have extensive
protein chromatography, protein chemistry and mathematical
skills. The engineer will provide technical support
for downstream operations, process validation and Technical
Services and will provide laboratory scale support as
needed. The successful candidate will interface with
operations, validation, analytical and quality assurance
personnel to enhance the performance of commercial scale
production operations.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a Biochemistry
or Chemical Engineering program with 0 to 5 years of
relevant industrial experience. The candidate will also
have a demonstrated record of experience in chromatography
and or filtration and multiple peer reviewed publications
and external presentations. Effective communication
skills in a technical environment are required. The
candidate also must be able to perform as a member of
a scientific team. Supervisory experience is recommended.

Senior Scientist,
Cell Line Development
A pharmaceutical company located in New York is seeking
Senior Scientist, Cell Line Development for a technical
leadership position responsible for cell line development,
cell line screening and media optimization for the manufacture
of biologic products. Candidate will provide technical
oversight for cell line development and media optimization
projects within Biotechnology Development. Candidate
will be expected to establish active collaborations
within Biotechnology Development and with partner groups,
including Analytical Biochemistry, Biologics Quality
and Operations. Candidate will also be responsible for
developing innovative approaches to the development
of manufacturing cell lines. This position is responsible
for maintaining state of the art knowledge in appropriate
scientific disciplines, especially in the area in which
he or she is working, through published literature and
attendance at internal and external scientific meetings.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Molecular
Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field. Must have
demonstrated experience in the development of mammalian
cell lines. Effective written and verbal communication
skills required. Experience with monoclonal antibodies
or fusion proteins desirable.
